Let's get real.

According to sources, The federal Govt. is going to give out $2000.00 debit cards to adult Katrina victims. How many of these victims havent ever made $2000.00 in their lifetimes? For most Americans $2000.00 isnt that much and some might say the govt. isnt giving enough... Perhaps the specifics will be different but imagine a home that has several adults who are "victims"... Mom, $2000.00, Dad (probably isnt there, but if he is) $2000.00, Children over 18, $2000.00, I am sure after this is all said and done we will hear stores of many families who never worked who got more money in this "disastor aid" than they get in half a year.... It is redistribution of wealth..... and it drives me nuts...

Alas, sitting here thinking about it.... even with all the flaws I forsee.... I don't see anything more productive to do.... So I guess I will have to grin and bear such waste and hope for the best.

I feel compassion for these people, but I want to give them a hand up, not a hand out.

I hope that they will not rebuild the slums, that they will tear down all the wood buildings theat have been soaked with the diseased and toxic waters. After they demolish the slums, rebuild new neighborhoods.

Don't look to house the poor somewhere. look to get them all those great social programs the liberals talk about where they are now. In doing so as jobs return to New Orleans allow the people to return to build houses as well.... Dont just stuff the poor back in the city....

What is your point?

John...even you are intelligent enough to realize that the word "welfare" as used by the Founding Fathers has nothing to do with the word "welfare" that you lefty loonies have saddled us with. The Founding Fathers would be appalled at the mess FDR and Johnson has created. They believed in limited government, self-reliance and private charity.
