Taxes

People, you need to take a stand.  If you believe in smaller government, now is the time to stand up opposed to Taxes, especially "sin" or consumption taxes.  While they seem like they are targeted to those who should bear the burden of the taxes to offset the cost of their actions....  they are really just another example of how the Liberals can see no bad tax....

Remember how they added taxes on gasoline to pay for roads....  and other general fund items....   How they pushed for all of us to stop using gas guzzlers....   that we all needed to drive cars that get 60 miles to the gallon?  Well now they have found out that their revenue stream is shrinking because we are getting better gas mileage.....

So these yahoo's are looking to intrude on our privacy in the car by putting a device that will track how many miles we travel in the car.....   This device would communicate with the gas pump each time you fill up and will charge you for how many miles you drove....  They also want to put a GPS tracking unit in your car to track where you go, and at what time your doing it to charge you more if you travel during rush hour, or in highly congested areas.....

Cigarette taxes......  all that money going into the general funds of the states and the federal government.....  what happens when people stop smoking enmass?

What's next?  Sugar tax?  Fast food tax?  they have already started to "feel out" those ideas......   Now it looks like they are preparing to charge for paper and plastic bags at grocery stores.....  and then eventually all bags at all stores will be taxed.....   at fast food restaurants, video rentals, etc....  anywhere they bag it....  I bet they are also looking to tax the popcorn bags at movie theaters......

I wouldn't mind if they stopped the income tax and moved to a consumption tax....  but they are basically adding the consumption tax on top of the income tax.....

When they start charging for the bags at the grocery store I am going to bring my own bags or tell them just to put it back in the cart and I will load it into the car that way.....   We used to bring our own bags to the stores when we lived in England.....  I can start doing it again.....  I will just have to be careful to see that they don't charge for a "set amount of bags" anyway.....
