A bunch of Arab American students made a Sweatshirt for their group, it featured an image of eleven (their class year) made to look like the twin towers, with a thunderbird flying into them (their school mascot) with a quote at the bottom,,, :you cant bring us down"
a lot of people are up in arms...
I am, but not against them, for them. someone tell me what wrong with it? then tell me about freedom of speech.
what if they were not arab americans and they had the same exact shirt?
Leave them alone!

Some time it is hard to believe....
If I didn't watch the speech this idiot might have gotten away with his blogpost... But he fails on so many different levels.
Andrew Sullivan sums up the speech last night....
So who called who a liar first? Moments before Joe Wilson shouted out "you lie" Obama calls the opposition liars. Now Wilson was wrong to shout out, as it is protocol to remain silent... Obama is the one who set the tone, that put the loyal opposition on its hackles with partisan attacks.
Andrew Sullivan sums up the speech last night....
One side was engaged in a civil conversation; the other was engaged in an uncivil protest. The Congress became an unruly town hall meeting - because conservatives made it one.Anyone who watched the speech must have seen it for what it was, a partisan speech meant to marginalize the conservatives... From the Whitehouse... a transcript of the speech at a key moment.
Some of people's concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but by prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Now, such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple. (Applause.)
There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms -- the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.
AUDIENCE MEMBER: You lie! (Boos.)

Is Rush an Asshole?
its
What? So facts do not matter? Because only the morons on the care about facts? But then you are a fact checker of the facts on FOXNEWS....
Wow... Who is the moron?
That is the poll question on a facevook poll. So far two thirds say he is an asshole. I voted No. In the comments this lovely individual gives this little comment. Let me say upfront I do not mind all his misspellings, as I am no one to talk... I will assume its just quick netspeak that caused all the errors...

i can understand why all the racists and so called religous right people love him because they also think that nobody has the rigt to live unless they agree with what they want. will be intresting to see them explan to god why they were so filled with hate towards any one that they disagreed with. i find it interesting that consertive
will trample all over the rights of anyone they dont like and cry like little babys if everything doesent go their way.its also amazeing that facts only matter to the morons on the right but if you check the facts as reported on fox news its understandable because they dont check the facts. in ther narrow tiny little minds if they lie and preach there hate it must be the truth and all the midless follewers of theres
repeat all the lies and contiue spreading the hate .
What boggles the mind is how do they come up with this stuff? Group racists with the "so called" religious right... Then state that they love Rush because they also think no one has the right to live unless they agree with what they want?
WTF?
Is Rush and the religious right pro abortion? Are they the people who believe in eugenics? Are they the people who are saying for the other side to "shut up and move out of the way"?
"will trample over the rights of anyone they do not like"
WTF?
Name someone Rush has denied their rights.

Yglesias...
There he goes, whitewashing the unethical. In his post Strange Hypocrisy he sees nothing wrong with the powers "that be" changing the rules whenever it suits them.
Once it is politically expedient Yglesias will be defending the opposite position...
In 2004, Massachusetts changed its laws to prevent Republican Mitt Romney from appointing John Kerry’s replacement in case he became President. Now it’s 2009, the Governor of Massachusetts is a Democrat, and Ted Kennedy is dead so the state legislature is considering changing the rule back so that Deval Patrick can appoint an interim Senator to serve in Kennedy’s place.
This is being described in some quarters as “hypocritical,” which really strikes me as silly.
Probably there should be a uniform national system for filling senate vacancies. But instead, we leave it up to state legislatures. Given that legislatures have been granted this discretion, it would be perverse of them to refuse to actually use it when doing so is crucial to advancing what their constituents want.I wonder who he thinks "we" are? Oh but come on... The people have spoken, we all know they want what the Democrats want!!! In this case the Constitution gives each state the right to create it's own system... So go ahead and abuse that power. I assume he is right though, in that the people of Massachusetts wont give a rats ass about how unethical this is. They wont be turned off by their politicians as long as they keep scamming to stay in power... Ethics are for losers!
Once it is politically expedient Yglesias will be defending the opposite position...

The Left is looking for an exciting news story.
Moe Lane has it right. this clip is so distorted... Then the comments are so far off what they are really showing... What can they want, if not atleast an attempt to be made? This is so made up and out of thin air... Those of us who have seen the uncropped video know it is a black man...
Stunning...

The good guys win one.
William A. Jacobson over at Legal Insurrection has a post about the Supreme Court' Ricci decision. When I think of the case all I could think of was how our society was going to let reverse discrimination stand. It was going to be OK to deny whites something merely because another race's applicants for a promotion couldn't pass muster.
Whenever a Liberal sees a minority not pass muster the liberal assumes bias in the examination. So we have to jump through hoops to prove the opposite. That in itself is discrimination!!!
Perhaps this will led to the end of quotas.

What? Canada Health Care System couldn't take care of newborn??? I am Shocked!!!
I cannot believe this story.....
Now let's think this through. Hamilton has a population of 750,000... But has no open neonatal bed... Hamilton is over 70 miles from Buffalo... But just over 40 miles from toronto. Toronto has a population of 2.5 million, but no open bed... The greater Toronto area is 25 percent of the total population of Canada, but no open bed....
Yet Buffalo did. Buffalo is the first major city you get to coming out of Canada from Hamilton. They didn't have to fly into the heart of America to get the care, they just had to cross the border.
Yet people still want that system here...
Via Memeorandum - A north of the border perspective....
Such utter crap.... then in the comments...
HAMILTON — A critically-ill premature-born baby from Hamilton is all alone in a Buffalo, N.Y., hospital after she was turned away for treatment at local facility and transferred across the border without her parents, who don't have passports.
Ava Stinson was born Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital, 14 weeks premature.
A provincewide search for an open neonatal intensive care unit bed came up empty, leaving no choice but to send the two pound, four ounce baby to Buffalo.

I won't get into the relative merits of the American and Canadian health-care systems here. Suffice it to say that there obviously need to be more neo-natal intensive care unit beds up here. Thankfully -- and this doesn't mean that the American system is better (after all, at least the couple and their baby are guaranteed care up here, thanks to our public system, even if it's not perfect) -- there was an opening south of the border.
Such utter crap.... then in the comments...
Neo-natal care for a premature infant? Why doesn't every hospital in North America have specialized equipment costing millions for use in rare cases, which in most communities will almost never happen? Maybe if Canada had some fine American style Republicans to give them millions of uninsured citizens, but at least you can enjoy the tax cuts, if you were rich.Nice rant... "rare" huh? Well we better get used to that term, because it will be rare to get good service in the USA once we adopt a system similiar to Canada's.
Wanna puke? read on...
Look at this crap.
California's Fiscal Crisis: The Legacy of Proposition 13
...at the root of California's misery lies Proposition 13, the antitax measure that ignited the Reagan Revolution and the conservative era.In other words, The reason why California is in trouble is because the bastards in Sacramento can't easily take more of my hard earned money. Screw you buddy.

taxes?
So we are going to pay for universal healthcare with new taxes on Soda . I like what was said in the comments...
They will start to stutter and stammer and talk about how this isn't a new tax, that it is a fee... When they lose that battle they will say, "Hey, we were talking about no new payroll taxes, we NEVER said we wouldn't tax you other ways until you bleed!"
Then most Americans will accept the new tax because in their heart of hearts they new when we elected Obama we were going to get fleeced.
Notice the Idiot? Then for all of the Universal Healthcare nuts out there... Did ya hear what she said?
If you Opt out of Medicare and Medicaid and promise to pay your own way...... Oh but idiots like you want there to be only one provider... who will then set standards and limits on care....
The guy hits it on the head here... Bad policy, bad way to fund your government... Tax something and you will sell less of it... Then you will look for the next thing to tax!!
So this new tax would only be on the people that use sugar and make over $250,000 per year right, cause I definately remeber Obama saying over and over that no one that made less the $250K a year would pay more taxes...Ah, but now, just like Clinton

The Real WHCD jokes....
Some really good roast jokes out there... Doug Powers has some zingers . (H/T: Michelle Malkin ) Here's a couple that I really liked...
"If you're wondering why the president is in a good mood, it's because he's glad to be finished with his annual physical. During his colonoscopy doctors removed two benign polyps and the White House Press Corps."
"Michelle Obama is also here tonight. The first lady just taped an episode of 'Sesame Street' but walked off the set after seeing a segment featuring the Count holding photos of Barack's cabinet members and saying, 'Two … two tax cheats. Ah Ah Ah. Three … three tax cheats. Ah Ah Ah …'"

Villainous Company
Now perhaps I shouldn't be jumping in, but I must comment on a few more things... Villainous Company attacks The Other McCain for his use of language... Such words as slut and whore are over the line for her... Yet her website has the following -
dim·wit
an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody's intelligence (informal)
Notice anything here? Now I am not asking for Cassandra to take down the word dimwitted. I ask that she acknowledge she might need to rethink her smug opposition to RS McCains approach.
Welcome to the Snarkpit of Fascism: proudly marginalizing the dimwitted...Who are the dimwitts? Shouldn't we steer away from such attacks of our political adversaries?

Injured man dies after rejection by 14 hospitals
, Associated Press Writer Mari Yamaguchi, Associated Press Writer – 43 mins agoTOKYO – 69-year-old Japanese man injured in a traffic accident died after paramedics spent more than an hour negotiating with 14 hospitals before finding one to admit him, a fire department official said Wednesday.
The man, whose bicycle collided with a motorcycle in the western city of Itami, waited at the scene in an ambulance because the hospitals said they could not accept him, citing a lack of specialists, equipment, beds and staff, according to Mitsuhisa Ikemoto.
It was the latest in a string of recent cases in Japan in which patients were denied treatment, underscoring the country's health care woes that include a shortage of doctors.
The man, who suffered head and back injuries, initially showed stable vital signs, but his condition gradually deteriorated. He died from hemorrhagic shock about an hour and half after arriving at the hospital, Ikemoto said.
Ikemoto said the victim might have survived if a hospital would have accepted him more quickly. "I wish hospitals are more willing to take patients, but they have their own reasons, too," he said.
The death prompted the city to issue a directive ordering paramedics to better coordinate with an emergency call center so patients can find a hospital within 15 minutes.
The motorcyclist involved in the Jan. 20 accident was hurt too and was also denied medical care by two hospitals before one accepted him, Ikemoto said. He was recovering from his injuries.
More than 14,000 emergency patients were rejected at least three times by Japanese hospitals before getting treatment in 2007, according to the latest government survey. In the worst case, a woman in her 70s with a breathing problem was rejected 49 times in Tokyo.

Obama's inauguration
Both my Children sat through their entire school day watching the inauguration. This Blogpost is amusing to me. In it he is attacking a school system for asking for permisson for their children to watch the inauguration... He believes that had McCain won that school system would have required class attendance. First, did that sytem even show the last inauguration? How about the one 8 years ago? Now if a case can be made for showing Obama's inauguration to every school kid, surely it could have been made for McCain's, afterall it would have meant the first woman VP. I seriously doubt that my local school system would have carried it then.
Why did my son's Kindergarten class sit the entire day watching this? What did they learn? Sure he knows Barrack Obama's name... but everything else was lost on him.

Dear Mr. President
Here's Pink's song, with just a few changes to be a song for Mr Obama now, instead of Bush....
Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions
if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all
the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night
before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has
no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why
Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his
own granddaughter's or Grandson's rights away
And what kind of father might
hate his own Granddaughter if she
were a mistake
I can only imagine what the
first lady has to say
You've come a long way from pot and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has
no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the
bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
you don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh
How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you
